Getting to Lusail on race day, and home again
Which station, which shuttle, where to park and where the taxis wait for the 2026 grand prix weekend, with the timings that decide whether you are home by midnight.

Race day at Lusail comes down to two things: the Sunday race starts at 19:00 local time, and almost everyone without a car ends up on the same shuttle from the same metro station. Plan around those two and the rest is detail.
This is the practical version of our getting there page, which makes the general case for each route. Here we deal in stations, exits, timetables and what changed last year. Where the 2026 arrangements have not been announced yet, we say so and show what happened in 2025 instead.
The metro
Take the Red Line north to the end of the line. The station is officially called Lusail QNB, though some event pages just call it Lusail Metro Station; it is the same place. From the airport, West Bay and the city centre there is no change of train.
A standard single fare is around QAR 2, paid with a travel card from the station machines or the Doha Metro app.
Two things from 2025 are worth knowing, neither yet confirmed for 2026:
- Grand prix ticket holders got a free three day metro pass, collected from the goldclub office at any metro station. If that is offered again it will be announced in race week, so check before you top up a card.
- The metro and tram ran late. Qatar Rail extended hours across the weekend:
| Day (2025) | Metro and tram hours |
|---|---|
| Friday | 09:00 to 01:30 |
| Saturday | 05:00 to 01:30 |
| Sunday | 05:00 to 02:30 |
The shuttle, which is the part that matters
You cannot walk from the station to the circuit. A free event shuttle covers the last stretch, and its timetable, not the metro’s, is what decides when you can leave.
The ticket seller has published preliminary shuttle hours for 2026 and says the final timetable will come from the organiser closer to the event:
| Day | 2026 preliminary | 2025 actual |
|---|---|---|
| Friday | 14:00 to 23:00 | 11:45 to 01:00 |
| Saturday | 11:00 to 22:00 | 13:15 to 01:00 |
| Sunday | 13:00 to 22:00 | 11:45 to 02:00 |
Our reading, and it is only that: a 19:00 race finishes around 21:00, and the concerts run later than that, so a 22:00 last shuttle on Sunday looks too early to be the final answer. Last year’s service ran until 02:00. Do not plan a late night around either column until the confirmed timetable is out. We will update this page when it is.
Gates and entry
The 2026 gate times have not been published. Last year the gates opened at 12:00 on Friday and Sunday and 13:30 on Saturday, and the concert gates opened in the evening after the fan zone closed.
The entry rules that applied in 2025 are the ones to prepare for:
- Your ticket is a QR code on your phone, checked at the gate and again at your grandstand. Arrive with battery and mobile data.
- Bring photo ID.
- One power bank per person was allowed.
- Once you leave the security perimeter, you cannot come back in.
Driving and parking
Parking is free, in a designated zone west of the circuit at Al Wusail, off North Relief Road. Take the Al Khor Coastal Road, leave at Exit 32 and follow the Spectators signs rather than your map app. The circuit’s app has a parking map, and last year it routed drivers to a zone based on their grandstand and let them save where they had parked.
The zone fills on race day. If it is full, the fallback the organisers themselves suggest is to park near Lusail QNB station and take the shuttle in, which is also a reasonable plan from the start if you want an easier drive home.
Taxis and ride share
Karwa taxis and Uber both drop off near the venue, at designated zones rather than at the gates. The zones are set by the traffic plan and can move, so check the event map on the day.
The catch is leaving. In 2025 only Karwa could pick up at the circuit. If you rely on Uber, your realistic options are the Karwa queue or the shuttle back to the metro and a ride from a station, where prices and queues are both lower.
A race day plan
This is our suggestion rather than anything official:
- Aim to be through the gates around two hours before the 19:00 start. Security, a shuttle and a walk to your seat all take longer on Sunday than on Friday.
- Eat inside or before you leave. Once you are out, you cannot get back in.
- Decide in advance whether you are leaving at the flag or after the concert. The first means the busiest shuttle of the weekend; the second means checking the final shuttle timetable before you commit.
- Note your parking zone, or the station you are returning to, before you walk in.
